Interactive dance adventure for young children to discover the magical musical tree, a sensory dance theatre piece by A Barrowland Ballet.
A Barrowland Ballet bring Poggle's Christmas Adventure to the Citizens Theatre this December, running from the 12th to the 24th. It's a sensory dance piece choreographed by Natasha Gilmore, and it's built for the very young—the company recommends it for ages 18 months to 7 years, with infants under 18 months welcome as babes in arms.
The story follows Vince, who wants to explore the forest but is too scared to go on his own, until he meets Poggle, a friendly creature. Together they set off through the trees and discover a magical musical tree. It's a warm-hearted piece made from live music, clapping rhythms and interactive comedy, set in an imaginatively changing world that the audience is invited to explore. It's pitched as an ideal first taste of live theatre for children who love music, dance and gentle adventure.
This isn't a brand-new show. Originally co-produced with Macrobert, it's toured the UK, China, Canada, the USA and Europe, picking up five-star reviews along the way—All Edinburgh Theatre called it "proper magical storytelling" and The Stage described it as "perfectly formed dance theatre."
