A live performance of traditional Chinese Peking Opera presented by the Peking Opera Society and the University of Glasgow, part of the Being Human Festival.
Peking Opera comes to Cottiers on Wednesday 11 November, brought to the West End by the Peking Opera Society and the University of Glasgow. It's a live performance that puts Chinese opera on a Glasgow stage, built around voice, movement and gesture, and it's designed to let you get close to the art form's distinctive performance language and see how stories and emotions are communicated beyond words. The evening is framed as a meeting point between Chinese opera and Glasgow, opening up new ways to experience performance across languages and cultures.
The performance is part of the Being Human Festival, the UK's national festival of humanities, which runs from 5 to 14 November 2026. The festival is led by the School of Advanced Study at the University of London in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy, so this night sits within a wider programme of humanities events happening across the country during those ten days.
