Norrie 'Tago' MacIver, joined by his full band, performs as part of the Celtic Connections 2027 festival.
Norrie 'Tago' MacIver is playing The Barony Hall on Wednesday 20 January, as part of Celtic Connections 2027. He'll be joined by Mairi McGillivray and his full band, so it's a proper ensemble night rather than a stripped-back solo set.
MacIver is a singer-songwriter from Carloway on the Isle of Lewis, and his music pulls together Hebridean roots, Gaelic heritage and a love of country music. He was a founding member of Bodega and Mànran, and spent nine years as lead singer of Skipinnish, playing across Scotland and beyond before moving into his own solo work. His album Roots Beneath brings together twelve original songs in English and Gaelic, drawing on the lives of his father and grandfather, his own family life with his wife and four sons, and the enduring pull of home. He's known for a powerful, distinctive voice and a natural gift for storytelling, and his songs tend to reflect the people, places and experiences that have shaped his life.
The set blends country, folk and Gaelic song, and with the full band behind him, it'll be a full sound. It's part of the Celtic Connections programme, which runs across Glasgow throughout January, so this is one of the many nights the city hosts during the festival.
