Matthew and the Atlas celebrate the 10th anniversary of the album Temple with a live show at Cottiers, performing Temple Unplugged and favourites from their catalogue.
Matthew And The Atlas play Cottiers on Tuesday 10 November, marking the tenth anniversary of the album Temple. It's a Glasgow date on a tour celebrating two versions of the same record, and the set is built around them.
Temple was recorded in Nashville in 2015 with the producer duo Foreign Fields and released in April 2016, and it gave us 'Elijah', which has since become a fan favourite. Later that year, songwriter Matt Hegarty reworked the songs with his band and producer Ian Grimble, and Temple Unplugged followed in December 2016. That second version is the one fans tend to mention most when talking about his shows, and it's the one that takes centre stage here: they'll play Temple Unplugged from start to finish, with favourites from across the rest of the MATA catalogue added in.
Matthew And The Atlas is the project of Hampshire songwriter Matt Hegarty, one of the first artists signed to Communion Records. Over fifteen years and seven albums, he's moved from classic acoustic folk to synth-laden electronica and guitar-led alt-rock, touring with Mumford & Sons, Bear's Den and The Civil Wars. Q Magazine once gave him the tag 'British Bon Iver'. For this tour, he's performing as a three-piece with Emma Gatrill and Alex Roberts.
