American indie rock singer-songwriter Kristin Hersh performs her latest solo album 'Clear Pond Road' in a seated show.
Kristin Hersh plays Cottiers Theatre on Wednesday 14 October, a night of songwriting and memoirs presented by 432. It's a seated show, so you'll be watching from a chair rather than standing in a crowd.
Hersh is an American singer, guitarist and songwriter who's been called the queen of the alternative release. She's put out more than 20 records across her solo work and her time with Throwing Muses and 50FOOTWAVE, and the music covers a lot of ground — from dissonant, jagged edges to traditional folk, usually delivered in a stream-of-consciousness style. The Guardian described her as one of indie rock's most fascinating figures, and that's a fair summary of a career that doesn't sit still.
Her latest solo album, Clear Pond Road, came out in September 2023 on Fire Records. It's a cinematic, intimate record built around strings and ambient sounds, a quieter, more textural place than some of her louder work. The night is billed as songwriting and memoirs, so expect the songs to sit alongside the stories she tells about them.
