A jukebox musical that takes audiences behind the scenes of the historic Live Aid concert of 1985, featuring performances by an ensemble of rockstars.
Just For One Day plays at King's Theatre from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 July 2027. It's an Olivier-nominated jukebox musical that takes you behind the scenes of Live Aid, the day 13 July 1985 when 70 artists played across Wembley and JFK stadiums and raised Β£127 million for charity.
The show was written by John O'Farrell, who also wrote Mrs Doubtfire, and directed by Luke Sheppard, the man behind &Juliet. The soundtrack is by Matt Brind, who covers the day's biggest artists β Queen, David Bowie, Elton John, U2, The Boomtown Rats and Diana Ross β all performed by an ensemble of rockstars. It follows an original West End run and is touring the UK and Ireland from March 2027.
There's a charitable side to it, too. The production works with the Band Aid Trust, which it has supported to the tune of more than Β£1.6 million, with 10% of every ticket sale going to the trust's charitable work. Pete Townshend of The Who called it a 'completely new and delightful way' to relive Live Aid, and the Daily Mail described it as 'joyous and emotionally volcanic'.
