Legendary songwriter Hugh Cornwell returns for an intimate evening of songs, stories and a Q&A session.
Hugh Cornwell is back in Glasgow on Friday 15 November, playing Saint Luke's and the Winged Ox in the East End. He's described as a legendary songwriter, and this one is billed as an intimate evening of songs and stories, with an open Q&A session to follow.
The night is built around the songs themselves, with Cornwell talking through them as he goes. It's a celebration of his career, so the set will draw from the different eras he's worked through over the years rather than sticking to one particular record. The Q&A comes after the music, when he'll take questions from the room and talk about the songs and the stories behind them.
If you're not entirely sure where to start with him, Cornwell is best known as the voice and guitarist of The Stranglers, the pub-rock band that became one of the defining acts of the punk era. He left them in 1990 and has spent the decades since working as a solo artist, writing and recording on his own terms. This show is a look back at that whole stretch, from the early days to the solo work that followed.

It's a stripped-back format, with the songs and the stories taking centre stage rather than a full band. The Q&A session gives you a chance to hear him talk about his career in his own words, so it's as much about the conversation as it is about the music. The venue is Saint Luke's and the Winged Ox, 17 Bain Street, Glasgow East End, G40 2JZ, on Friday 15 November.
