Award-winning Hen Hoose Collective bring together a lineup of Scottish women and non-binary artists in a night celebrating inclusivity and gender equality in music.
Hen Hoose Collective play Saint Luke's and the Winged Ox on Friday 5 December, with Pippa Blundell and Miwa Nagato-Apthorp on support. It's a night put on by the collective itself, and the line-up they've pulled together reads like a cross-section of the Scottish indie scene. You'll find Frances McKee of The Vaselines, Emma Pollock of The Delgados, Sarah Hayes of Admiral Fallow and Birdvox, and Jill Lorean of Cariss Crosbie. It's a fair few names from bands that have left their mark on the Scottish guitar and indie landscape, all sharing one bill.
There's a bit more to the night than just the line-up. Hen Hoose Collective is a nationally recognised, award-winning Scottish collective led by female and non-binary artists, and they describe their mission as advancing gender equality within the music industry. They talk about the night as a celebration of inclusivity that challenges established norms in the sector, and as a showcase of their ongoing work to foster a more equitable musical landscape through live sound. So the whole thing is as much about the collective's wider aim as it is about the music on the night.
