A cast of performers revisits the songs of Glasgow folk songwriter Matt McGinn in a warm, heartfelt gathering at the Tron Theatre, part of Celtic Connections.
Have You Seen My Red Yo-Yo?: The Songs of Matt McGinn comes to the Tron Theatre on Friday 22 January and Sunday 24 January, as part of the Celtic Connections festival. It's a celebration of the songs, stories and legacy of Matt McGinn, who's described as one of Glasgow's most distinctive and enduring songwriting voices and a legendary figure in Scottish folk music.
A cast of performers revisits a much-loved repertoire whose words captured the character, resilience and wit of working-class Scotland. The songs run from sharp social observations and political commentary to tender ballads and playful family favourites, all delivered in the unmistakable language and spirit of Glasgow. The bill covers both his best-known works and some of the hidden gems, blending humour, storytelling and music in what the organisers call a warm, heartfelt gathering. Fraser Bruce is among those on stage.
It's a chance to hear McGinn's work in a live setting, with the songs and stories that made him a fixture of the city's folk scene. The show is recommended for ages 14 and over.
