The smash-hit Broadway and West End musical Hadestown, winner of eight Tony Awards, brings its UK and Ireland tour to Glasgow's King's Theatre.
Hadestown is coming to the King's Theatre from 8 to 12 June 2027, as part of its first-ever UK and Ireland tour. The Glasgow dates sit in the middle of a run that opens on 19 February and closes on 13 November, so it's one of several stops the production is making across the islands this year. It's the show's first tour of the UK and Ireland since a National Theatre run back in 2018.
Written by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, the musical weaves together two ancient Greek myths: the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone. Mitchell's score blends indie folk, pop, blues and New Orleans-inspired jazz, and the show itself started as an indie theatre project and an album before it ever reached a professional stage. The original Broadway cast recording has since become one of the most streamed cast albums of all time, certified Gold by the RIAA.
It's a production with a fair bit of history behind it. It won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and picked up the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album. Over six million people have seen it live, and it's been streamed nearly a billion times. The Glasgow run is part of the wider tour that runs from 19 February to 13 November 2027, following that earlier National Theatre run in 2018.
