Two-hour arena show bringing the BBC sports entertainment show Gladiators to the OVO Hydro with fan-favourite events, stunts and the Eliminator finale.
Gladiators are coming to the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, with two shows across the weekend. It's a two-hour arena adaptation of the television show, and they're billing it as louder, faster and more spectacular than before.
The format will be familiar: the Gladiators take on contenders across fan-favourite events, with breathtaking stunts and head-to-head battles throughout. The Eliminator finale closes the show, and stars from the BBC series are on the bill. The arena is transformed into a modern gladiatorial battleground with purpose-built sets, spectacular lighting and cinematic staging.
For a bit of context on the venue, the OVO Hydro is part of the Scottish Event Campus on the north bank of the River Clyde. It opened in September 2013 and was designed by Foster + Partners on the site of the old Queen's Dock. Its elliptical, sloping bowl draws from ancient Greek and Roman amphitheatres, with a 125-metre-wide roof rising to 45 metres and an exterior wrapped in pneumatic translucent cushions. In its first decade it hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards, the Ryder Cup Gala Concert and BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and formed part of the 2014 Commonwealth Games programme.
