Chicago singer-songwriter Ezra Furman returns to Glasgow to kick off her latest solo tour at Cottiers.
Ezra Furman is back in Glasgow on Tuesday 20 October, playing Cottiers in the West End. It's the first date of a short run of solo shows across the UK, and Glasgow gets to kick things off.
Furman is a Chicago singer-songwriter who's built a reputation for a sound that doesn't quite sit still. The description that usually follows her mentions punk energy, heartfelt lyricism and genre-defying innovation, and that's a fair summary of what she does: she pulls from a few different traditions and lets them run into each other. It's a fearless way of writing, and the emotional honesty she brings to the songs is a big part of why she's become one of the more compelling voices in modern music.
Last year she released her tenth album, Goodbye Small Head, and this tour is built around it. The solo format means the focus stays on the songwriting and the performance, without a full band to lean on. It's a run of dates that takes her across the UK, including a night at London's Union Chapel — a venue she sold out two nights in a row back in 2024.
