The internationally acclaimed musical Chicago, set in the decadence of the 1920s, follows the story of Roxie Hart and her sensational trial.
Chicago is coming to King's Theatre for a run from 10 to 15 May 2027, with the curtain going up at 7:30 PM each night. It's a multi-award-winning musical set in the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, and it's had a long life on stages across the world.
The story follows Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover and then dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate Velma Kelly by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to turn her crime into sensational headlines. It's a cynical, knowing look at fame and the way the legal system can be played for the right price.
Behind it are John Kander, Fred Ebb, and the legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, whose sexy, sassy score includes 'Razzle Dazzle', 'Cell Block Tango', and 'All That Jazz'. The show has picked up six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, and a Grammy, and it's drawn thousands of standing ovations over the years. It's proven a hit in mid-size UK venues, drawing audiences eager for innovative takes on the enduring genre.
