A Mòd Fringe Hub event blending live Gaelic music sessions with Scottish food traditions, featuring performances by Josie Duncan and contemporary composers.
Ceòl's Curry runs from Monday 12 to Thursday 15 October at Edward House on Sauchiehall Street, part of the Mòd Fringe Hub. It's one of the daily sessions Glasgow Life is putting on for the Royal National Mòd Fringe, the Gaelic arts festival that runs alongside the Royal National Mòd 2026 and spreads Gaelic culture across the city from 31 August to 31 October. The sessions blend live music with Scottish food traditions, and the second half of the week turns towards culinary conversation around ingredients, flavours and dishes.
The music changes as the days go. On Monday 12 October, Gaelic singer Josie Duncan and friends sing the songs of the Melbost Bàrd Murdo Macfarlane, who hailed from the Isle of Lewis. From Tuesday 13 through to Thursday 15, the focus shifts to The Road to Glasgow, featuring new compositions by Laura Jane Wilkie, Kathleen MacDonald and Lisa Robertson. Macfarlane left a legacy of bàrdachd and was a staunch campaigner for the Gàidhlig language, so his songs sit alongside these newer pieces from contemporary artists.
It's a good way to see how the older records and the new stuff live in the same room. You've got the songs of a Lewis bàrd on the first night, and then three evenings of new work from three different voices. If you're into Gaelic singing, it's a decent stretch of music to work your way through over the course of the week.
