Monthly Gaelic conversation circle, a drop-in for anyone who wants to practise their Gàidhlig.
Cearcall Còmhraidh (Cnoc Màiri) is back at The Whitehouse in Maryhill this Thursday 15 October, and it's one of those things that's easier to understand once you're there: a monthly Gaelic conversation circle, a drop-in for anyone who wants to practise their Gàidhlig. It's not a class with a teacher at the front, but a gathering of people talking to each other in the language, so you can come along whether you're just starting out or you've been speaking it for years.
The circle meets on the third Thursday of every month, so if you can't make this one, there's another on 17 December. It's run by Cnoc Màiri, and the whole point is just to get the language moving in a social setting rather than in a textbook. If you've been learning on your own or in a course and are looking for a place to actually use what you're picking up, this is exactly that kind of space.
Its Glasgow home is The Whitehouse, at 1641 Maryhill Road, Maryhill, Glasgow West End G20 0JH. The venue is now under the stewardship of the Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust, which hosts the gatherings there. It's a well-known spot in the West End, easy enough to find if you're coming from the city centre or across from the north side.

Because it's a drop-in, there's no need to book or sign up in advance — you just turn up when you fancy it. If you're still a bit hesitant about your level, don't let that put you off; the whole thing is built around people practising together, so you're in good company. It runs on the third Thursday of each month, with this one on 15 October and the next on 17 December.
