Ross Wilson returns with his Blue Rose Code band performing a new collection of songs in a broad Scots folk and singer-songwriter style.
Blue Rose Code play Saint Lukes and the Winged Ox on Wednesday 4 November, with the music starting at 7pm. It's the live iteration of Ross Wilson's songwriting, and the set is built around a new collection of songs from his brand new record.
Wilson works in a broad Scots folk and singer-songwriter style, and he's a familiar name in the folk scene here. He's worked with Karine Polwart, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Ewan McGregor, written for Steve Knightley and opened for Van Morrison, Deacon Blue and the Proclaimers. He's also played the larger stages: he headlined '24 at the Cambridge Folk Festival and Gate To Southwell with his nine-piece Caley Soul band, and played a sold-out show at Glasgow's 1,400-capacity Pavilion Theatre for Celtic Connections.
Critics have described the act as "a burnished blaze of Caledonian Soul, muted jazz and poetic recitation" (UNCUT) and "jubilant, prayerful, compassionate" (The Scotsman). The band is fronting the new material from Wilson's latest record, so you'll be hearing the new songs as they're meant to be played.
