Glasgow electropop and indie-punk trio bis headline the Stereo Glasgow series at the historic Stereo Cafe Bar.
bis play Stereo Cafe Bar on Sunday 28 February, starting at 7pm. It's a Glasgow band playing a Glasgow venue, and they've been at it for over three decades now.
Formed here in 1994, bis are an electropop and indie-punk trio made up of Sci-Fi Steven, John Disco and Manda Rin. They first made a name for themselves as teenagers when their 1996 breakthrough single 'Kandy Pop' landed them a Top of the Pops appearance while they were still an unsigned act. From there, they signed to the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal label in the US and wrote the theme song for the animated series The Powerpuff Girls.

After a hiatus in the mid-2000s, they returned to recording and performing, releasing Slight Disconnects in 2019 and Systems Music For Home Defence in 2022, and celebrating 30 years of music. The show is part of the Stereo Glasgow series at a venue that has stood since 2007 in a building designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, with a dedicated vegan bar and kitchen and gigs running through to the early morning. The set is just bis, with the trio taking the stage on their own. It starts at 7pm on Sunday 28 February at Stereo Cafe Bar, 20-28 Renfield Lane, Glasgow City Centre, G2 6PH.
