A stage adaptation of Noel Streatfeild's beloved 1930s novel, following three adopted sisters chasing their dreams, with Anton Du Beke in dual roles.
Ballet Shoes comes to King's Theatre from 26 to 30 October 2027, as part of its UK tour that kicked off back in August. It's a stage adaptation of Noel Streatfeild's 1930s novel, and the Glasgow run is a short one, so you'll want to pick your night early.
The story follows three adopted sisters β Pauline, Petrova and Posy β growing up in a crumbling house full of dinosaur bones and fossils. Each of them is chasing a dream of her own, and they're doing it against the grain of the obstacles facing women at the time. It's a family story that doesn't shy away from the heavier stuff, too; adoption and death both play their part, and the production is recommended for ages 7 to 107, so it's one you can take the whole family to.
On the Glasgow dates, Strictly star Anton Du Beke takes on a double role as Great Uncle Matthew and Fidolia, though he's only in the cast from 26 to 29 October, so if you're keen to see him, don't leave it until the final night. He's a fan himself β he said he took his own family to see the show at the National Theatre and fell in love with it.

Behind the scenes, the play was adapted for the stage by Kendall Feaver and directed by Katy Rudd. It's a co-production with Chris Harper Productions and follows two successful runs at the National Theatre in 2024 and 2025, which is where it earned its reputation: The Sunday Times called it a 'masterpiece' and The Guardian 'spectacular'. At select tour venues, the show also works with Frozen Light, a company that creates multi-sensory theatre for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities. The Glasgow run is 26 to 30 October at King's Theatre.
