Exhibition showcasing the work of over 40 oil painters from Sandy Grant's painting classes at the Botanic Gardens, featuring life drawing, portraiture and oil painting pieces.
Art Classes in the Botanics opens at the New Glasgow Society on Friday 23 October, running through to Sunday 25 October. It's an exhibition of work by more than 40 oil painters who've spent the spring and early summer in Sandy Grant's painting classes at the Botanic Gardens.
What you'll see on the walls comes from a few different disciplines. There's life drawing, portraiture and oil painting, so it's not just one thing — the mix of styles and subjects reflects the different courses Grant runs. The work was produced during the spring and early summer, and it's being brought together here in the West End.
Sandy Grant has been running his own classes at the Botanics for 15 years, and they're open to everyone regardless of age or ability, with a good number of returning members. The New Glasgow Society was chosen as the venue to champion artists who haven't had the chance to exhibit in a professional setting, so this is a first show for many of the people whose work is on display.
