A concert of iconic James Bond film music performed live by Glasgow Studio Orchestra with special guest singers.
Glasgow Studio Orchestra are taking over Cottiers on Sunday 15 November for 007 In Concert - The Music Of James Bond, a night dedicated to the music of the longest-running film franchise in history. It's a full-orchestra take on the Bond songbook, with the orchestra joined by a cast of special guest singers to handle the vocals.
The set covers more than sixty years of the series, and it doesn't stick to one era. You'll hear the early classics from the sixties and seventies like Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Live and Let Die alongside the more recent hits Skyfall and Writing's on the Wall. It's a broad sweep of the whole run, so it works whether you're into the vintage Connery years or the Daniel Craig era.
The programme moves from the big, brassy themes to the series' ballads, with Thunderball, Nobody Does It Better, Licence to Kill and Tomorrow Never Dies among the titles they'll be playing. Having the orchestra live on stage gives the whole thing a different weight than hearing it on a record, and the guest singers mean the vocal tracks get their own spot in the light rather than just being backed by a tape.
