A two-hour masterclass with poet Joelle Taylor on the theme of worldbuilding, presented by Loud Poets.
Joelle Taylor is at the Scottish Storytelling Centre on Friday 16 October for a two-hour masterclass on worldbuilding. It's presented by Loud Poets, Scotland's premier spoken word night, as one of the dates in Taylor's October touring showcases.
Taylor is a queer, working-class author of six plays, a novel and four collections of poetry. Her collection C+NTO & Othered Poems won the 2021 T.S. Eliot Prize and the 2022 Polari Book Prize for LGBT authors, and it's currently being adapted for the stage. She's a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and hosts and co-curates Out-Spoken, the UK's premier poetry and music club at the Southbank Centre. Her latest collection, Maryville, spans fifty years in an underground lesbian bar.
The session is an intimate workshop with writing exercises throughout, so you'll be doing as much as listening. It's open to over-18s, and places are limited to 20 participants, so you'll need to book in advance. The venue is level-access and wheelchair friendly, with accessible toilets and assistance dogs welcome.
