Three-hour French-language workshop exploring the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region at the Institut français d'Écosse.
Institut français d'Écosse is running a three-hour workshop on the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region on Friday 11 December, one of several events they've put together for the month. The workshop focuses on that particular stretch of south-eastern France, and it's held at the centre's home in the Old Town, West Parliament Square, EH1 1RF.
It sits inside a wider week of events marking the centre's 80th anniversary. The Institut français d'Écosse has been running since 1946, promoting French language and culture in Edinburgh and across Scotland as part of the larger Institut Français network. It's a broad cultural hub: they run French courses, talks, live music and theatre, film screenings, library collections, children's activities and festivals.
The anniversary programme is framed by a talk, Discover The Story Of The Institut français d'Écosse, given by Odile Hughson alongside Stéphane Pailler, Consul General of France in Edinburgh and Glasgow and Director of the Institut français d'Écosse. Hughson's long-standing interest in Franco-British relations and Scottish history has led her to look at the institutions and people behind that relationship, and together they'll trace the origins and development of French cultural diplomacy in Scotland and the role such organisations continue to play in bringing French and Scottish communities together.
