Wax & DJ Hoppa with wulfsun

Wax and DJ Hoppa are playing Larimer Lounge on Sunday, November 15, with wulfsun on the bill too. It's a pairing that comes out of a specific stretch of road: Hoppa became Wax's tour DJ in 2024, and while they were out together, Hoppa kept a portable studio with him. That turned the tour into a rolling recording session across the US and Canada, and the result is Highway Hotel, the album they're bringing to the stage.

The record blends Hoppa's raw hip hop instincts with Wax's melodic range and eclectic lyricism, and it's backed by a guest list that reads like a who's who of the scene. Little Stranger, G Love, K.A.A.N., Jarren Benton, Watsky, Jarv, Demrick, ¡Mayday!, Krysta Youngs, Damn Skippy, Kail Problems, Marley B, 1Ton, SUMPP, and Wax's twin brother Herbal T all make appearances. It's a road-born album in the most literal sense, and that's the material they'll be working from.

There's a bit of history behind the two. Wax is a rapper, singer, and songwriter signed to Def Jam Records, with a Number One Billboard hit in several European countries and about a dozen albums to his name. DJ Hoppa is a veteran hip hop producer who releases through his own label, Broken Complex, and has produced for many legendary hip hop artists. They crossed paths musically before the tour, but the two years on the road are what turned them into a duo.

Larimer Lounge is in the RiNo district. Doors open at 7 PM, and the show starts at 8 PM.
