Tōth performs his album 'And The Voice Said' with special guest William Alexander at Globe Hall.
Tōth plays Globe Hall on Thursday, October 15, with William Alexander. Tōth is also a member of Rubblebucket, and this show is built around his third album, And The Voice Said.
He frames the record as an attempt to "kill the Buddha," a meditation on his own conflicted spiritual strivings. It's a personal set of songs, and the background to them is part of the story: early struggles with addiction and run-ins with the law, and then finding salvation in music, which led him to co-found Rubblebucket in college. The album features a duet with Kimbra and was co-produced by Grammy nominee Caroline Rose.
One thing to know about his live shows is how they usually end. He often closes with the audience singing along to the mantra "Open your heart to the universe," so if you're there, you'll likely be part of the sound by the end of the night.
