The 2026 Resident Artist Show at RedLine Contemporary Art Center, exploring themes of collective responsibility and sustainable futures through contemporary art.
The Weight of Tomorrow is on view at RedLine Contemporary Art Center from September 25 through November 29, 2026. It's the center's 2026 Resident Artist Show, and this year it's guest curated by Kimberly Kitada, the Gallery & Programs Manager at Charlotte Street Foundation and a curator and educator based in Kansas City.
RedLine works with a visiting curator model that brings together local, regional, national, and international perspectives around a single theme. The idea is to show current contemporary art practices and highlight how the work of Colorado artists speaks to global movements and ideas. The Weight of Tomorrow fits right into that: it contends with questions about our collective past, present, and future, proposing that every individual holds a responsibility toward the next generation of artists, leaders, and culture bearers to uphold the most abundant, sustainable futures.
If you haven't spent much time there, it's worth knowing what RedLine actually is. It's a 22,000-square-foot facility that does a lot more than just hang shows. The main exhibition hall hosts 12 to 15 curated exhibitions a year, and the center also runs a two-year residency program with 18 resident artist studios—free studio space for the artists involved. There's a Community Studio for educational programming, a Project Space, and a library of 8,000 books on art and art history. The Resident Artist Show is one of the primary ways that work coming out of those studios gets seen by the public.
