The Bees & Locusts are a seven-piece band from the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Taos, New Mexico. They describe their sound as organic hip-hop and R&B crossed with soul and funk, shaped by the traditional music of their home region. With seven people on stage, that's a lot of moving parts to a single sound—the hip-hop and R&B side provides the groove, the soul and funk bring the energy, and the traditional music of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains is the thread that ties it together. It's a specific mix that doesn't quite fit into one easy box, which is usually the best kind of thing to see live.
They're the main feature of the night, but they aren't playing alone. Spyderland, Kree23, and Ekym are all on the bill, so you'll hear from four different acts in one evening. If you're coming for the headliner, it's worth getting there early enough to catch the openers, too.
