Monthly listening room showcasing top local songwriters, hosted by Baggs Patrick and Marty Jones, with dinner and drinks available.
Songwriters at the Speakeasy is back at the Broadway Roxy on Tuesday, October 13, from 7 PM to 9:30 PM. It's a monthly listening room that puts the focus on local songwriters, and this one is hosted by Baggs Patrick and Marty Jones. The lineup features a bill of Denver's hottest up-and-coming songwriters, each playing their own original material.
If you haven't been before, here's how it works: the night runs on the second and third Tuesday of every month, and for those two nights, the Broadway Roxy's basement speakeasy transforms into an intimate listening room. It's a stripped-back setup where the songs take center stage, and the room is meant for listening rather than talking over. The bill pairs original songs from the area's top songwriters with the charm of Denver's underground scene, so you're hearing new work from writers who are active in the city right now.
Because it's in the basement, it's a distinct change of pace from the main floor. The Roxy also has a full dinner menu and a bar available, so you can eat and drink throughout the night. It's a good spot to settle in for a few hours and hear a handful of different writers in one go.
