A screening of the 4K restored Director's Cut of the 1962 horror film Lady in White, presented by the SIE Film Center as part of its Sie FEAR Center series.
SIE Film Center is screening a new 4K restoration of the pre-release Director's Cut of Lady in White on Tuesday, October 13, at 7 PM. It's part of the venue's October tradition: every year the theater rebrands as the 'Sie FEAR Center' and fills the schedule with horror tales from around the globe. This one is a 1962 horror film written, directed, and scored by Frank LaLoggia, and it's described as one of the most beautiful and original American horror films of the 1980s.
The story centers on nine-year-old Frankie Scarlatti, whose Halloween night takes a turn when he witnesses a local child-killer murder a little girl. That discovery leads him to a reclusive woman known as 'The Lady in White.' It's a child's-eye view of a mystery that doesn't let up, and the 4K restoration means you'll see it in a way it hasn't been shown before.
The cast is a mix of recognizable faces. Alex Rocco, known for The Godfather, and Len Cariou, from Executive Decision, both appear, along with Sydney Lassick of Carrie. It also gave Lukas Haas, who later turned up in Mars Attacks and Inception, his first starring role. The cinematography was by Academy Award winner Russell Carpenter, so there's a professional polish to the look that's worth seeing on a big screen.
