Country-rock solo debut of River Shook, the former frontwoman of Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, performing at Hi-Dive.
River Shook plays Hi-Dive on Tuesday, November 3, her first Denver date since the band she fronted for a decade called it. For ten years, she was the songwriter and vocalist for Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, and this is the solo debut that follows. The record came together in a way that fits the story: after labels passed on a batch of demos, she and her partner and lead guitarist, Blake Tallent, co-produced it themselves in their home studio in rural North Carolina. Tallent played nearly every instrument on the album, which came out on June 26.
That record draws on love, distance, freedom, and self-revelation, and it's the material she's bringing to the stage. On the night, the trio consists of Shook, Tallent, and bassist Jeremy Radio, all three hailing from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The show is presented by Hi-Dive and is 21+.
