The Chicago band REZN present their new album Burden alongside a live set from lowheaven, with local act Bleakheart also performing.
REZN are playing Hi-Dive on Friday, October 16, with lowheaven and Bleakheart on the bill. The Chicago quartet is touring their latest full-length, Cycles in the Infinite Dream, which they describe as exploring the space between waking and subconscious worlds. Their sound blends heavy music with psychedelic textures, seismic riffs, and atmospheric melodies.
Sharing the bill is lowheaven, who formed in the spring of 2020 under the dark clouds of the COVID-19 pandemic and stay-at-home orders. Their sound oscillates between post-hardcore, screamo, blackened noise, and metal. Vocalist and guitarist Dan Thomson, formerly of the Canadian post-hardcore band Sparrows, says, "We're not a happy listen, lowheaven is something that has got a lot of weight." Their debut album, Ritual Decay, looks at the reality of complete social isolation and the acceptance of what it means to lose faith in life and yourself. Local act Bleakheart also plays.
