Pig Destroyer live at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, part of the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest lineup.
Pig Destroyer play the Fillmore Auditorium on Friday, December 4, as part of the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest. They're not alone on the Friday lineup: Suicidal Tendencies, Cro-Mags, Black Breath and Haggus are all on the bill, so it's a full night of heavy music rather than a single band. The festival also brings in craft breweries like 3 Floyds, WarPigs, XUL, Odell and Left Hand, so there's beer to go with the sets.
If you're not familiar, Pig Destroyer is an American grindcore band formed in 1997 in Alexandria, Virginia, by vocalist J. Genre. They're based in Baltimore now, with Scott Hull on guitars and production, JR Hayes on vocals, Travis Stone on bass, Alex Cha on electronics and samples and Adam Jarvis on drums. They describe their sound as metal boiled down to muscle and sinew, built on razor-sharp guitars, percussive pummelling and a lone, stark howl, while the lyrics paint loathsome images of self-hatred and the frailty of the human experience. It's grindcore in the truest sense—short, fast, and loud.
