Contemporary art exhibition featuring the works of Deborah Carlson, James-Allan Holmes and Carrie MaKenna at D'art Gallery in the Santa Fe Arts District.
Over Under Inside Out is running at D'art Gallery through October 18, with work by Deborah Carlson, James-Allan Holmes, and Carrie MaKenna. It's been up since September 24, so you've got a few weeks to catch it before it closes.
The show's organizers describe the work as having depth, layers, and texture beyond the surface, taking viewers on dimensional journeys through time, space, and meaning. It's a group show, so you'll see how three different artists approach those same ideas side by side.
Carrie MaKenna says the exhibition came together by chance. More than 15 years ago, she picked up wood boxes with the idea of making assemblage art inside them, and she's been collecting objects ever since—including a bag of headless Barbie bodies she found on Facebook Marketplace. That's the kind of thing you'll find in the show: objects gathered over a long stretch of time, finally coming together in one space.
