Concert by the Los Angeles project Osees featuring Brigid Dawson, part of the Punk Tacos series at the Ogden Theatre.
Osees are playing the Ogden Theatre on Sunday, October 11, with Brigid Dawson on the bill. The show is part of Channel 93.3's 'Punk Tacos' series, and Traps PS opens the night.
If you're coming to them through the name, you might recognize them as Thee Oh Sees, OCS, or The Oh Sees. They're the project of Los Angeles musician John Dwyer, and the sound has shifted a fair amount over the years: hushed, druggy folk on one end; groovy, demonic pop chants on the other; and science-fictional krautrock in between. The live shows have a reputation for being intensely physical, driven by the Rincon/Quattrone drumming and Tim Hellman's bass, with Dwyer layering in breathy yips, synth snippets, and guitar heroics. Their last album, Orc, was described as a muscular and darkly inventive turn that stretched further into space while sharpening the group's heaviest inclinations.
