A virtual session led by educator Molly Medakovich inviting participants to slow down and explore a single work of art from the DIVA exhibition.
Mindful Looking Online is coming to the Denver Art Museum on Tuesday, October 27, from 1:00 to 1:45 PM. It's a virtual session centered around the museum's DIVA exhibition, and you can join from home via Microsoft Teams.
If you've never come across it, Mindful Looking is a series led by educator Molly Medakovich. The whole idea is to slow down and spend time with a single work of art—rather than scanning a whole room—to notice the details that usually get overlooked, ask questions, and connect with the piece and the other people in the session. It's less about art history and more about the act of looking.
The in-person sessions run on the third Tuesday of every month, and entry is included in the museum's free general admission. Mindful Looking Online is the virtual counterpart, held once a quarter, so this is one of the few times a year you can do it from your couch instead of heading downtown. This particular session focuses on DIVA, the museum's exhibition on the divine feminine, so the work of art you'll be spending those 45 minutes with comes from that show.
