Concert featuring the San Francisco shoegaze and alternative rock trio Midrift, opening for Movements, with support from Niis and Balance And Composure.
Midrift are playing Mission Ballroom on Wednesday, October 14, opening for Movements. It's a full bill, with Niis and Balance And Composure also on the lineup, so the night starts early and keeps going. Doors are at 6 PM.
Midrift are a San Francisco trio fronted by Gus Mehrkam, who handles vocals and guitar alongside his brothers, Manoa on bass and Kai Neukermans on drums. They formed in 2022 and have spent the last few years blending the hazy nostalgia of shoegaze with alternative rock and the intensity of punk, emo and pop-punk. After their self-titled 2022 EP, they picked up speed through viral hits, and two of their breakout tracks, "Twin Flames" and "Unrequited," made it into this year's NME 100. Their debut album, Silhouette, runs ten tracks that push the genre forward, and the video for "not far gone" mixes grunge and emo with a wall-of-noise style. They've toured with julie and Fleshwater, and they've announced a UK and EU co-headlining run with Glare and Glixen, which includes a stop at Outbreak Fest in Manchester.
