Six-piece big-band jazz ensemble performing creative arrangements of jazz and contemporary standards with vocals by Laurie Michelle.
Laurie Michelle & Her Off Beats play Dazzle on Saturday, October 10, from 9 PM to 10:30 PM. It's a six-piece jazz ensemble that works its way through big-band arrangements of jazz and contemporary standards, with Laurie Michelle on vocals.
The lineup for the night is a full band: Laurie Michelle on vocals, Tim Hurley on guitar, Sonya Walker on keys, Jeremy Wendelin on horn, Ron Bland on bass, and Pat Hurley on drums. With a horn and a full rhythm section behind her, it's a big sound for a jazz set, and the setlist pulls from both the jazz songbook and more contemporary standards.
They're playing at Dazzle, a Denver venue that's known for an intimate live-music experience. It's a busy room, booking more than 70 shows a week seven nights a week and showcasing local, national, and international musicians alongside food and drink. DownBeat magazine has named it one of the 'Top 120 Jazz Clubs in the World' every year since 2004, and Westword readers voted it 'Best Late-Night Jazz' in 2024 and 'Best Blues Venue' in 2024 and 2025. The room is also available for events and private parties.
