Jazz guitar session by Laurie Dameron, presented by Dazzle, with free entry.
Laurie D plays Dazzle Jazz at El Chapultepec Lounge on Thursday, October 15, at 10 PM. It's a free concert, so you can just show up and listen without worrying about a ticket.
Laurie D is the stage name of Laurie Dameron, a Boulder-based guitarist and vocalist who's been playing for over 55 years and singing even longer. She's performed at hundreds of venues over the last 35 years, both as a solo artist and with her band, Laurie D and the Blues Babes. She's also a Billboard Magazine award recipient.
Her discography covers a fair bit of ground. Utah Dream is original folk, acoustic, and blues; Looking Through the Blue is all original jazz; and I Can't Wait to See You Again takes its title from the track that earned Honorable Mention in the 2008 Billboard Magazine World Song Contest. Critics describe her as an echoey acoustic guitarist whose sound sometimes brings Pat Metheny to mind, blending old-school jazz guitar with rock 'n' roll double stops and swing blues. Her latest record is a journey through the Great American Songbook, backed by some of Colorado's top musicians.

The night also features Kent Burnside, born in Memphis in 1971, the eldest grandson and one of the closest pupils of the legendary R.L. Burnside. Between Dameron's jazz and folk roots and Burnside's connection to the Burnside name, there's a good bit of ground to cover in one evening.
It all happens at Dazzle Jazz at El Chapultepec Lounge, 1060 14th St, Denver, CO 80202, starting at 10 PM on Thursday, October 15. Admission is free.
