Justin Nozuka

Justin Nozuka plays Ophelia's Electric Soapbox on Tuesday, October 13. It's a single-bill night, so he's the only name on the poster.

If you're not already familiar, Nozuka is a singer-songwriter whose work sits in that acoustic, folk-leaning space where the voice and the guitar do most of the heavy lifting. He's known for a soft, melodic approach to songwriting that doesn't rely on big production or a full band to carry it, and that's exactly what you'll get here: Nozuka live on stage, with the set built around his own singing and playing. It's the kind of show that works best when you can actually hear the lyrics and the guitar work without a lot of noise getting in the way.

Ophelia's is right in the thick of things downtown, at 1215 20th St., so it's an easy spot to get to whether you're coming from the Highlands or over from Cap Hill. Since it's a Tuesday night, it's one of those mid-week dates that doesn't require a whole weekend plan around it—just a few hours out of the house on a school night.

The show starts at 8 PM, with doors opening at 7 PM, so you've got an hour to get inside and find your spot before he takes the stage. If you're planning to grab a drink or a bite beforehand, that window gives you plenty of room to work around.
