Joey Harkum performs live with The Wakefuls at Globe Hall in Denver.
Joey Harkum plays Globe Hall on Friday, October 23, with The Wakefuls joining him. It's a full-band night for the singer-songwriter, who's spent the last decade building a catalog around lyrics that lean into the human experience.
If you're coming to him for the first time, there's a fair amount to catch up on. Harkum played guitar his whole life and spent ten years as the lead singer and songwriter for the Baltimore band Pasadena before stepping out on his own. His solo debut, Love and Labor, came out in 2016 to critical acclaim, and since then he's kept a steady pace: Live at Buffalo Iron Works in 2018, Storyboard in March 2021, Salt and Tar in the spring of 2022, and The Art Of Revenge on March 1, 2024. His fifth studio album, One Foot In The Grave, arrived on August 22, 2025, so this show falls well within the tour for that record.
With five studio albums behind him, the set has plenty to pull from. You'll hear the newer material from One Foot In The Grave alongside songs from the earlier records, and with The Wakefuls backing him, those songs get a full-band treatment rather than the solo acoustic setup he's often known for. The lyrics have always been the center of his work—deep, poignant writing that doesn't shy away from the heavier parts of living—and that remains the core of the show.
