If you're not familiar with the room, The Grizzly Rose is a massive spot—40,000 square feet of floor space—and it's built around country music. It opened in 1989 and bills itself as one of the last great honky tonks in the world, known nationwide for hosting some of the best country music in Denver and across the country. Inside, there's a 2,500-square-foot floating hardwood dance floor, a 3,200-square-foot private banquet facility, a General Store, a Pool Room, a Smoke Shop with lounge, a 2,000-square-foot dance room, and even a mechanical bull.
The venue runs live country music five nights a week, with free dance lessons on Wednesdays, free drinks for ladies on Thursdays, country concert nights on Fridays, weekend parties with live music on Saturdays, and family nights on Sundays. This show is one of those Friday nights, so it fits right into the regular rotation. Nichols is the only name on the bill, and the night is built around his set.
