Jesus Christ Taxi Driver performs their rock and roll style with The Great Bingo Revival at the immersive art venue Meow Wolf Denver.
Jesus Christ Taxi Driver play The Perplexiplex® at Meow Wolf Denver on Saturday, October 31, with The Great Bingo Revival opening. The show starts at 8 PM at 1338 1st St, right inside Convergence Station.
Jesus Christ Taxi Driver formed in 2022 on Colorado's front range. They play a brand of rock and roll that draws on the violent energy of Jon Spencer, the sophisticated rhythms of Ali Farka Touré, and the religious disorientation of Jean Meslier. The songs aim at daily banal agonies and existential uncertainty. Their debut LP, Lick My Soul, is out, and they've been bringing wildly disruptive live shows to venues across the mountain west.
If you haven't caught them yet, the sound is a strange one: the raw, jagged edge of garage rock meeting West African guitar rhythms, all wrapped in a sort of spiritual crisis. It's not the kind of thing that sits still. They've built a reputation on the live side of things, and this is one of those shows that works better in a room than on a record.

The venue adds its own layer to the night. The Perplexiplex® is part performance venue and part immersive art experience, so you're not just walking into a black box. It's a good spot for a band that describes their own work in terms of disorientation and disruption. The Great Bingo Revival opens the bill, and the whole thing kicks off at 8 PM on Halloween night.
