Singer-songwriter Jackie Evans, with a style likened to Carole King, Billy Joel and Sara Bareilles, performs live at the iconic Larimer Lounge with support from Blair Lamb.
Jackie Evans plays Larimer Lounge on Monday, October 19, with Blair Lamb opening. Evans is a New York singer-songwriter who only started releasing songs under her own name last year, so this is one of her first runs of dates since stepping out from behind the scenes.
Her writing draws comparisons to Carole King, Billy Joel, and Sara Bareilles—the kind of piano-led songwriting that feels familiar and melodic. That sound comes from years spent taking requests at piano bars, a gig that forces you to read a room and play what people actually want to hear. It's a different way to build a repertoire than writing in a bedroom, and you can hear that live-room sensibility in her work.
She's a working musician through and through. She's played standards on cruise ships, performed at theme parks, and majored in theatre, and that stage confidence has led to collaborations with Vulfpeck and support slots on tour with Lake Street Dive and Jensen McRae. She's also a Grammy nominee. For this show, she's teaming up with rising star Blair Lamb, who opens the night.
