Austin indie rock duo Hovvdy plays an intimate show with support from Nashville singer-songwriter Emma Ogier.
Hovvdy play Globe Hall on Sunday, October 11, with support from Nashville's Emma Ogier. The Austin duo, Will Taylor and Charlie Martin, have been a part of the indie landscape for more than a decade, and this is their first Denver date in a while.
If you've followed them since the beginning, you've seen the sound shift. They started in slowcore—quiet, understated, and patient—and gradually worked their way into a twangy indie rock that pulls from 2000s pop-country and emotional acoustic ballads. Across five studio albums, the songwriting has moved from those hushed early days toward something more open. Their last two records, 2021's True Love and their latest self-titled Hovvdy, deal with life's most intense emotions more directly than the records that came before them.
Emma Ogier opens the night. She's based in Nashville, and she'll set the stage before Hovvdy takes over. Between the two acts, you'll get a full evening of music rather than just a single set.
