An after-hours, self-guided tour where storytellers share true staff experiences and the haunted history of the Denver Botanic Gardens.
Ghosts in the Gardens returns to the Denver Botanic Gardens this October, an after-hours, self-guided tour that lets you explore the grounds after dark. It's not a guided walk in the traditional sense—you move through the gardens at your own pace, and along the way, storytellers are stationed throughout the grounds. They share true staff experiences, security guard encounters with the unexplained, and the haunting history of the site once known as 'The Boneyard.'
The route takes you through the main floor of the historical Beaux-Arts Waring House, where you can get a glimpse of the secrets it may still hold. The whole experience lasts about 90 minutes, and new stories begin every 15 minutes, so you aren't stuck in one big group. Most of it is outdoors, so you'll want to dress for a cool October night.
It's open to children 12 and older, though it's not recommended for younger kids. One thing to keep in mind: Halloween masks and costumes aren't permitted, so leave the get-up at home. The gardens are at 1007 York Street in Denver.
