Concert featuring Dummy, American Culture, Golomb and Precocious Neophyte at the Hi-Dive, presented by Convulse Records.
Dummy play Hi-Dive on Tuesday, October 27, with American Culture, Golomb, and Precocious Neophyte opening. The night is presented by Convulse Records.
Dummy come from Minneapolis, and they're touring their 2024 album do you love the color of the sky?, which they frame as an anti-zeitgeist record. It draws on post-rock and drone, and they cite Seefeel, Windy and Carl, and Laika and Disco Inferno as influences, while echoing early BjΓΆrk, The Sundays, and Madonna's Ray of Light. Keyboardist Emma Maatman handles vocals and samples alongside guitarists Joe Trainor and Nathan O'Dell and drummer Alex Ewell; touring bassist Lance Umble is now a full-time member.
They've toured heavily since Free Energy β about 150 days and 113 shows β and they maintain an "anti-laptop on stage" stance, treating studio recordings and live performances as different sides of the same coin. The set will pull from that material, with American Culture, Golomb, and Precocious Neophyte filling out the rest of the bill.
