Concert by the New Orleans metal quintet Down at the Fillmore Auditorium, part of the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest.
Down play the Fillmore Auditorium on Saturday, December 5, at 2 PM. It's a New Orleans metal quintet fronted by Philip H. Anselmo, with Pepper Keenan and Bobby Landgraf on guitar, Jimmy Bower on drums and Pat Bruders on bass. The Denver date is part of the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest, which runs from December 3 to 5.
The band first came together in 1995 and put out the platinum-selling Nola that same year. After that, they worked in a series of EPs rather than full albums: Down II: A Bustle In Your Hedgerow in 2002, Down III: Over the Under in 2007, Down IV - Part One in 2012, and Down IV - Part Two in 2014. Over those years, they've shared the stage with Metallica and Heaven & Hell and played Download, Soundwave and OZZfest.
There's been a change in the lineup since those early records. Bobby Landgraf, who spent years as the band's stage manager and played guitar in Honky, took over guitar duties alongside Keenan after the 2013 album, replacing Kirk Windstein. That makes the current five-piece Anselmo, Keenan, Landgraf, Bower and Bruders.
