Distant, a downtempo deathcore band, performs live at the Marquis Theater in Denver, with support from Heavy//Hitter, Torn Open, Katywentmissing and Squelching.
Distant play the Marquis Theater on Saturday, November 28, as part of a 26-date U.S. fall tour. They're a four-piece downtempo deathcore band with roots in Rotterdam and Bratislava, formed in 2014. Their sound pulls from hyper-dissonant deathcore, brutal death metal, and beatdown, and the whole thing is tied to a fictional universe they call Tyrannotophia, which they expanded into a novel, The Rise of Tyrannotophia, in 2021.
They've been putting out records steadily since the early EPs Slither (2015) and Tsukuyomi (2017). Their debut album, Tyrannotophia, came out in 2019 through Unique Leader Records, followed by Heritage (2023) and Into Despair (2024) via Century Media. Into Despair runs thirteen tracks, and the band also released Tsukuyomi: The Origin in 2024, a record that reimagines their 2017 EP. The lineup is Alan Grnja on vocals, Nouri Yetgin on guitar, Elmer Maurits on bass, and RenΓ© Gerbrandij on drums.
They aren't the only ones on the bill. Joining them are Heavy//Hitter, Torn Open, Katywentmissing, and Squelching, so there's a full slate of bands to catch before the headliner. The Denver date is one stop on a long run across the U.S. this fall, and they're also playing Core Fest 2026 in Germany on October 31.
