Concert by Dexter and The Moonrocks, a Southern Alternative band blending grunge and country-rock influences.
Dexter and The Moonrocks play Mission Ballroom on Thursday, December 17, 2026, starting at 6 PM. They're a Southern Alternative band out of Abilene, Texas, and their fans have given them a nickname that pretty much sums up the sound: 'Western Space Grunge.'
The lineup is James Tuffs on vocals and rhythm, Ryan Anderson on lead guitar and harmonies, Ty Anderson on bass, and Fox on drums and harmonies. Their music blends red-dirt country with alternative rock, and they're open about the records that shaped them. You'll hear the grunge of Nirvana, the psychedelic stretch of Pink Floyd, and the Southern-leaning sounds of Austin Meade, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and Whiskey Myers. Because they pull from so many directions, the songs can land anywhere from grunge and alternative to country-rock and straight country.

That range is a good way to get a sense of what to expect. If you're more into the red-dirt side, you'll recognize the country roots; if you lean toward the alternative side, the grunge influence will stand out. The harmonies from Ryan Anderson and Fox sit on top of it all, so it's not just a guitar-driven set—there's a fair amount of vocal work going on throughout. The show is at Mission Ballroom, 4242 Wynkoop St, in Denver, and it kicks off at 6 PM.
