Two-hour introductory pottery session for couples, with each person getting their own wheel, a drink and pre-centred clay.
Denver Ceramic Studio is hosting Date Night Wheel Throwing on Saturday, October 17, at 369 S. Pearl St in Denver. It's a two-hour introductory pottery session built for couples, and the setup is pretty straightforward: each person gets their own wheel, a drink, and pre-centered clay. Having the clay pre-centered is a nice touch if you've never touched a wheel before, because centering is usually the hardest part to get right when you're starting out. With your own wheel, you can work at your own pace without having to share space or wait your turn.
Once you've finished your pieces, the studio takes over from there. They handle the glazing, using a single glaze chosen by the staff, so you don't have to worry about picking colors or figuring out how to apply it yourself. Your work will be ready for pickup about two weeks later. Just a heads-up on the timing: any pottery left three months after the workshop is donated, so make sure you swing back by to collect yours.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Denver and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

While it's called a date night, the format is open to anyone aged 16 and over, so it works for friends or family too. Places are limited to seven students per session, which keeps the group small and gives you plenty of room to move around. If you've been wanting to try the wheel without committing to a full course, this is a low-stakes way to get your hands dirty for an evening. The studio is at 369 S. Pearl St, 80209.
