Country and bluegrass show by Daniel Donato, drawing on the 100+ classics he played with The Don Kelley Band, from his album 'Cosmic Country & Western Songs'.
Daniel Donato brings his Cosmic Country to Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom on Friday, November 6, with the show starting at 8 PM. He's a Nashville native, and that city is practically written into his backstory: he discovered The Don Kelley Band at Robert's Western World when he was 14 and ended up joining them as their house band. From there, he spent three years playing five nights a week, four hours a night, working through a setlist of more than 100 country and bluegrass classics. By the time that run ended, he'd played 464 shows, 1,856 hours, and 20,880 songs.
That run came to a halt with the COVID-19 pandemic, and in tribute he released Cosmic Country & Western Songs. He describes the record as music that comes from that band rocking Nashville's most famous honky tonk, just with a twist of cosmic country. It's the same spirit he brings to the stage: a high-energy blend of rock, roadhouse, and instrumental virtuosity. He's billed across country, outlaw country, alternative country, and Americana, so the set tends to pull from a few different corners of the genre.

If you're not familiar with the name, that's a good place to start. The whole thing grew out of those years playing for crowds in a Nashville honky tonk, and that roadhouse energy is what he's known for. The show is at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom on Friday, November 6, starting at 8 PM.
